* Nelson Mandela left the prison at 1990 .
* He had been in prison for 27 years .
* He was 42 years old when he went to prison.
* There were thousands of people , reporters and photographers when he left jail .
* He felt very happy to be free from jail , he couldn't describe it in words because he had to suffer a lot and wait too for that day .
* He talked to the Afrikaners , and both white and black people .
* Nelson Mandela forgave the people who had put him in jail . I think that it was very good of him to forgive those people and move on in his life , not holding on a grudge . People with greater goals need to suffer a lot to reach their goal .
* He had vision of equality among all the people .
* The leader of the government at that time was F.W. De Klerk , he was worried about white people not being welcomed .
* Nelson Mandela said that the country badly needed white people and begged them to stay .
* Nelson Mandela became the President of South Africa on 10th of May 1994 .
* F.W. De Klerk became Nelson's deputy and they ruled together .
* Someone called that new country the rainbow nation because all the people together were like colours joined together , beautiful than any one colour alone .
